Swiss EuroCHRIE event at Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne

Swiss members of EuroCHRIE were invited to Lausanne by Dr Hilary Murphy to share a day of discussion and collaboration on ETHICS and CASE STUDY WRITING with fellow members.

The event commenced with Dr Ian Jenkins, the Research Director of LRG, giving an informative presentation and leading the discussion on “Ethics”, not only in research but also within academic establishments. He made specific reference to the European research context but also the context of hospitality education and the moral, legal and corporate contradictions that are encountered. The conversation carried over in to lunch at the gastronomic restaurant, Berceau des Sens.

The afternoon then continued with an engaging presentation by Dr Susan Horner from Cesar Ritz Hotel School on “Writing Case Studies”. Dr Horner, an expert and author on case studies in the tourism sector, presented and led the discussion, starting with the fundamentals of composing case studies through to publishing these case studies for wider consumption. Related to this, Susan Fournier, President of I-CHRIE and also representing Cesar Ritz, gave a brief presentation on the ICHRIE competition for case studies, which commence this year.

This day was the latest in a series of events organised by EuroCHRIE board member, Dr Hilary Murphy, for all Swiss members ( plus potential members). The next gathering of the members will be hosted by Cesar Ritz and the theme of this event will be sustainability and corporate social responsibility, which supports the main theme of the EuroCHRIE 2012 conference,  which  will be hosted by  Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne (EHL)  in October 2012.
